What it actually is.
Giraffe is a prescription lash treatment. Its active, bimatoprost, lengthens the growth phase of the eyelash follicle, so lashes grow longer, fuller and darker than they otherwise would. It's the same active used in prescription eye drops for glaucoma, which is why it needs a prescriber's review rather than a basket.
It's for adults aged 18 to 65 with short, sparse or thin lashes, who don't have an eye condition that rules it out. It's applied with a fine single-use applicator to the skin at the base of the upper lashes — never to the lower lid, and never into the eye.

Follow the directions in the pack
Your prescriber's directions and the leaflet come first.

Clean face, lenses out
Remove make-up and contact lenses. One drop on a fresh applicator.

One stroke, upper lid
Draw it along the skin at the base of the upper lashes, like eyeliner. Blot any excess. Never apply to the lower lid.

Nightly, then patience
Once a night, one applicator per eye. Change is usually visible from around eight weeks; full effect at twelve to sixteen.

- Itchy or red eyes
- Darkening of the skin of the eyelid where it's applied, which usually fades after stopping
- Dry or irritated eyes, or a feeling of something in the eye
- Fine hair growth on skin that the product repeatedly touches
- If you use eye drops for glaucoma or raised eye pressure, unless your eye specialist has agreed
- If you have an active eye infection, uveitis or iritis, or have had eye surgery recently
- If you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
- If you are under 18 or over 65
- If you are allergic to bimatoprost
- Bimatoprost can permanently increase brown pigment in the iris if it gets into the eye repeatedly. This is more likely with mixed-colour eyes. Apply only to the skin at the base of the upper lashes and blot any excess.
- Use a fresh sterile applicator for each eye, each night; never reuse one or share the product.
- Remove contact lenses before applying and wait 15 minutes before putting them back.
- If you already use bimatoprost eye drops, using both may reduce the drops' effect on eye pressure — tell your eye specialist.
- Stop and contact us or an optician if you get eye pain, changes in vision, or persistent redness.
- Hair gradually returns to its previous state over weeks to months after stopping.
