Liposomal magnesium is magnesium wrapped in a protective layer of lipids (the same kind of fatty molecules your cells are built from), forming tiny spheres called liposomes.
Magnesium is notoriously hard for the body to absorb. A good deal of an ordinary dose is never taken up, and unabsorbed magnesium is what tends to cause the loose stools and digestive upset that higher-dose magnesium supplements are known for. The liposome is designed to shield the magnesium as it travels through the digestive system, so more of it can be absorbed rather than passed through.
We've seen how powerful this delivery method can be. In a double-blind, randomised human trial on our own liposomal vitamin C, blood levels reached almost four times higher than standard, non-liposomal vitamin C at the same dose, with no reported side effects. That's the same liposomal technology we use to deliver magnesium.

Not all magnesium is equal. The mineral is always paired with something else to make it stable, and that pairing makes a big difference to how well your body absorbs it and how gently it sits with you. We use magnesium glycinate, one of the most absorbable and best-tolerated forms available.
Magnesium glycinate. Magnesium bound to glycine, an amino acid your body uses naturally. It's a chelated form, which means it's well absorbed and known for being gentle on digestion, without the laxative effect that catches people out with cheaper forms.
Magnesium oxide. The form found in many low-cost supplements. It looks high in magnesium on paper, but a large share of it isn't absorbed, which is also what makes it the form most likely to cause loose stools.
Magnesium citrate. Magnesium bound to citric acid. Reasonably absorbed, but well known for its laxative effect, which is why it's often used precisely for that purpose rather than for daily topping up.
