Liposomal vitamin C is vitamin C wrapped in a protective layer of lipids (the same kind of fatty molecules your cells are built from), forming tiny spheres called liposomes.
Ordinary vitamin C has to survive the acidic environment of digestion before your body can absorb it, and at higher doses much of it is simply passed through. The liposome shields the vitamin C on that journey, so more of it is taken up and stays in your system for longer.
And this isn't just theory. In a double-blind, randomised human trial on our own liposomal vitamin C, blood levels reached almost four times higher than standard, non-liposomal vitamin C at the same 1,000mg dose, with no reported side effects.
Because the lipid shell is so similar to the body's own cell membranes, it's a format that works with your body rather than against it: a smoother, more efficient way to take vitamin C, without needing the megadoses that can leave standard vitamin C sitting in the gut.
