Liposomal vitamin B12 is vitamin B12 wrapped in a protective layer of lipids (the same kind of fatty molecules your cells are built from), forming tiny spheres called liposomes.
Vitamin B12 is an essential vitamin your body can't make on its own, so it has to come from diet or supplementation, and it isn't always easy to absorb. B12 relies on a multi-step uptake process in the gut, and a good deal of an ordinary oral dose is never taken up. The liposome is designed to shield the B12 as it travels through the digestive system, so more of it can be absorbed rather than passed through.
We've seen how powerful this delivery method can be. In a double-blind, randomised human trial on our own liposomal vitamin C, blood levels reached almost four times higher than standard, non-liposomal vitamin C at the same dose, with no reported side effects. That's the same liposomal technology we use to deliver B12.
